Elderberry Shield

Deep ruby, tart, and built for cold months.

Dried organic elderberries make a wine-dark decoction. Rosehip adds vitamin-C brightness; a stick of cinnamon keeps it from tasting like cough syrup.

Ingredients

2 cups

  • Organic dried elderberries1 tbsp
  • Organic rosehips · crushed1 tsp
  • Cinnamon stick½

Method

  1. 1

Simmer berries, rosehips, and cinnamon in 500 ml water for 10–12 minutes.

  2. 2

Strain through a fine mesh — berry grit is unpleasant.

  3. 3

Sweeten lightly with honey if the tartness is too sharp.

Why this cup

  • A seasonal kitchen ritual at the first sniffle
  • Rich color, tart enough to wake you up
  • Keeps well refrigerated for two days

Go gently

  • Use dried culinary elderberries only — raw unripe berries are not for tea.
  • Traditional wellness use, not a treatment for infection.
