Nettle Mineral

Deep green, earthy, and quietly fortifying.

Dried stinging nettle loses its sting and becomes one of the most mineral-rich leaves you can pour water over. A little peppermint keeps it from tasting like the garden.

Ingredients

2 cups

  • Organic dried nettle leaf2 tbsp
  • Organic peppermint½ tsp

Method

  1. 1

Use a generous handful — nettle wants a long, strong brew.

  2. 2

Steep at least 10–15 minutes, covered. Some herbalists leave it an hour.

  3. 3

Strain. The liquor should be deep green-gold.

Why this cup

  • A long steep draws minerals from the leaf
  • Earthy enough to replace a mid-morning snack drink
  • Traditionally used as a daily nourishing infusion

Go gently

  • Use dried culinary nettle, never raw fresh leaves in the cup.
  • Nettle can interact with diuretics and blood-pressure medicine.
